Lavender essential oil is undoubtedly one of the most known, in fact it was already used in ancient times for its therapeutic virtues and to perfume linen. It is famous for having several beneficial properties, both for mind and body.
Of all its components, linalool and linalyl acetate are present in very high quantities, this is why they are attributed most of the properties ascribed to Lavender oil.
• Thanks to its antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and sedative properties, Lavender essential oil is widely used for various respiratory problems, including throat infections, flu, coughs, colds, asthma, sinus congestion, bronchitis, whooping cough, laryngitis and tonsillitis. It can loosen phlegm, helping the body to eliminate it naturally, relieving nasal congestion and speeding up the recovery process.
• The olfactory notes of Lavender essential oil produce a calming and sedative effect on the nervous system and is an effective remedy for reducing migraines and various headaches, because it gives a state of calm, peace and inner peace.
• Lavender essential oil is also very useful in case of nocturnal agitation, especially in children, it is sufficient to pour 2-3 drops directly on the pillow or vaporize the mixture with water and vodka or food alcohol or isolate (not only with water because insoluble) throughout the bedroom, to have immediately a relaxing effect.
• If you pour a few drops of Lavender essential oil into hot water with bicarbonate and you inhale its vapors, i twill help you to decongest the mucous membranes in case of sinusitis or cold.
• It is known that Lavender essential oil has antirheumatic effects which can relax the muscles in case of cramps or spasms.
• Lavender essential oil has disinfectant and anti-inflammatory properties that help the flow of bile and stimulate diuresis.

Lavender essential oil on a topical level

One of the best known uses of Lavender essential oil is certainly as an anti-moth and perfumer for linen but its uses are many more.

  • Used to fight acne or impure skin, Lavender essential oil has an antibacterial action and reduces the possible appearance of scars.
  • It is excellent to reduce burning and pain in case of insect bites or redness caused by contact with jellyfish.
  • In the cosmetic field, Lavender essential oil is also effective in the care of oily skin. It can be used together with the lemon one, to prepare a tonic. Mix two drops of the two different oils in a cup of water and dab the skin of your face morning and evening.
  • You can pour 15 drops of Lavender essential oil in 100 ml. of jojoba oil to obtain a homogeneous mixture, to be rubbed twice a day on the skin of the face with a cotton pad to soothe and remove skin inflammation.
  • Add a few drops of Lavender essential oil in the last rinse of the washing machine: you will have scented sheets for a long time, and a feeling of freshness and clean that will remind you of the blooming lavender fields.
